EXHIBIT: MICHAEL BOROWSKI  |  "QUEER CONSTRUCTS"

Assistant Professor of Photography at Virginia Tech, Michael uses metaphors of construction and building throughout his interdisciplinary work. Through photography, installation, and performance, he addresses ways in which societal values are expressed in urban environments and imagines alternative visions of domesticity. Skeptical of the traditional, single-family home, he works to open up the imagined and physical limitations between strangers and public versus private space.

This event is free and family-friendly.

LYNCHBURG IN WORLD WAR II

Over 6,000 of Lynchburg’s men and women served in the armed forces during World War II. Craddock-Terry made shoes and the Lynchburg Hosiery Mill produced parachutes for the military. Lynchburg raised more than 38 million dollars for war bonds and led all cities in Virginia by recycling over 1.3 million pounds of metal. The Museum will exhibit uniforms and other military items highlighting Lynchburg’s contributions to World War II.
